You love customizing your Windows desktop, right? How would you like six different desktops to work with?
If that sounds a little excessive, well, it is, but CubeDesktop's designers went ahead and did it anyways. This small application gives you six completely separate Windows desktop screens, which you can customize with different background images and icons. You might setup a desktop for work, a desktop for home, a desktop for...well, we've run out of ideas for this program, actually.
If this sounds like a must-have tool, you'll appreciate that CubeDesktop seems to work well. It's a resource hog that sucks up a ton of RAM while it runs, but if you've got an extremely powerful computer, then you might not mind.
You choose between your six desktops with a 3D cube display, which rotates as you scan between different options. You can click on one of the options to expand it. It's a cool effect that's pretty unnecessary considering the massive resource requirements of this program. If the 3D animations bloat the program, why not remove them and make this a simpler and much more functional application? They'd have to change the name, but we've never looked at our desktops and thought, "if only there was a way to turn this functional, easy-to-use screen into a 3D cube."
This is definitely one of those programs that you'll either use everyday or uninstall five minutes after using it for the first time. Organization addicts might appreciate the new set of desktop options that CubeDesktop brings to the table, but most of us will probably treat this little program with indifference.
CubeDesktop is a program that allows Windows users to have six virtual desktops all running independently at the same time. Each of the desktops is separate meaning that the applications, settings and taskbars are all relative to what is happening within that virtual frame. The method of switching between the desktops involves rotating a large virtual spinning cube that shows images of what is happening in real-time within each frame. The program is intended to allow someone to have various workspaces dedicated to different tasks. A major problem with CubeDesktop is that it drains a massive amount of system resources. CubeDesktop is also an outdated program that does not work well with modern versions of Windows.
